Students Complete Advanced Factory Training, Increasing Both International & Domestic Support for End-fire Glide Slope Antenna Systems

Herndon, VA: 8 December 2006: Ten students completed the latest week-long advanced factory training program on the End-fire Glide Slope Antenna Systems during the first week of December. Including this class, more than 45 individuals have attended the course over the last two years. The factory training program provides the opportunity for attendees to achieve factory-endorsement for maintenance, optimization, and instructor for end-fire glide slope systems.

John Johnson, president of Watts Antenna Company, tailored the comprehensive system training to site technicians and ILS engineers who will be involved in the installation and maintenance at new sites.  Notably three personnel from Park Air Systems AS, who attended the session, will be involved with the first installation of the end-fire glide slope antenna system in China.  In addition, also attending were personnel from FAA, Ohio University, and the U.S. Navy, who are involved with new and existing installations in the United States.

“With four new systems scheduled for installation and a number of sites slated for field upgrades in the next six months, it is gratifying that our customers can see the return on   investment in the training of their personnel who will be directly involved with the end-fire systems.  In fact, three of these trainees will have hands-on responsibilities for the first end-fire installation in China in early 2007, and others are directly involved with new and existing installations for the FAA and U.S. Navy.”

John Johnson reviews the system instruction book for students who are performing the production test plan for the end-fire interface unit.

Individuals who attended the session included:  Ingar Aaen, Christian Johansen, and Stein Kristiansen (Park Air Systems AS); Ken Green, Mark Hall, Gary Resta, and Giang Tran (FAA);Juan Lozano (SPAWAR Systems Center of San Diego, CA); Marc Seymour (US Naval Air Station Meridian); and Aaron Wilson (Ohio University).
